Full-size is defined in measurement as greater than 120 ft of interior volume. Previously, a wheelbase greater than 110 inches was the criterion. The term first appeared in the early 1960's to define what also became known as "standard" size cars from the new compact and intermediate models then being introduced. Most limousines, however, operate as livery vehicles, providing up market competition to taxicabs. The last production limousine, by Cadillac, with forward facing jump seats was in 1987, the last Packard in 1954, and the last Lincoln in 1939, though Lincoln has offered limos through their dealers as special order vehicles from time to time.
